Pre & Post Laser Treatment Guidelines
Pre Laser Treatment Guidelines
Before an IPL laser treatment, (Skin Tightening, Skin Rejuvenation/Photofacial and/or a Laser Hair Removal treatment) you must avoid sun exposure, tanning beds and sunless tanning creams/lotions for at least 3 weeks prior to treatment, and throughout the course of your laser treatments. Clients with the slightest tan or evidence of exposure will not be treated and asked to reschedule.
-
If the treatment site is on the face, please remove make-up prior to coming.
-
The laser technician may inquire about current medications you are taking as they may cause photosensitivity. It is important for your safety to please let the technician know what you are taking and how long you have been taking it (antibiotics, anti-depressants, etc.). We ask that our clients receiving laser treatment on the face to halt from using medicated creams, (hydrocortisone for example) at least 2-3 days prior to treatment. We also ask that our clients halt from utilizing creams or lotions that contain Retinol-A or Vitamin-A 2 weeks before their treatment.
-
Clients who have had botox or fillers done must wait 3 weeks before receiving laser treatment on the face.
-
Clients who have had a Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peel, OxyGeneo or another Laser appointment must wait at least 2-3 weeks before an IPL laser treatment on the face.
-
Clients who have had a Microneedling treatment must wait >3 weeks before an IPL laser treatment on the face.
-
Clients with a history of hyper-pigmentation may be prescribed a preparation containing kojic dipalmitate 2-4 weeks prior to treatment.
For Laser Hair Removal Clients:
-
Thick overlying hair (if not shaved) will absorb the laser energy and superficial thermal injury may occur.
-
For axillary hair (underarm), it is important to not use antiperspirant or DEODORANTS for the entire day.
-
Shave the treatment area a day before the treatment- this is to remove the overlying hair from the treatment site. If the area is not shaved the appointment scheduled will be cancelled or the laser technician will charge an additional fee to shave the area before your treatment.
-
Prior to treatment wash the area with mild soap and rinse thoroughly. Avoid all other body treatments (i.e. no perfumes, colognes, after-shave, body lotion etc.).
-
For bikini lines/Brazilians treatments, dress appropriately and bring a change of clothing if necessary. If you are menstruating at the time of your appointment please check with the laser technician regarding rescheduling your appointment if necessary without being charged a cancellation fee.
-
It is recommended that all fitness/aerobic activity not take place after a Laser Hair Removal appointment. We ask that our clients postpone classes or workout sessions until the following day.
Post Laser Treatment Guidelines
-
Immediately after your laser treatment, there could be erythema (redness) and edema (swelling) at the treatment site. This may last up to 2 hours, or longer depending on your skin's sensitivity. The erythema could in fact, last up to 2-3 days. The treated area will feel like a mild sunburn for a few hours after the treatment. Apply ice if necessary, during the first few hours, to reduce any discomfort or swelling that you may be experiencing
-
In rare cases, topical antibiotic ointment (Polysporin) may be used for 2-3 days, but usually, this is not necessary. Our laser technicians recommend using aloe vera gel or ice after your treatment. Darker pigmented people may have more discomfort than lighter skin people and may require the aloe vera gel or antibiotic ointment somewhat longer.
-
If the area develops a scab, then apply an antibiotic ointment (Polysporin) to keep the area moist until the scab falls off. Allow the scab to fall off on its own, do not pick the area!
-
It is not recommended to apply to make –up directly after your treatment as it clogs the freshly opened pores. If make-up is required it is recommended that you use NEW makeup to reduce the possibility of infection.
-
If the treatment looks infected and/or tenderness is obviously present, please contact the clinic for instructions.
-
Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation. If exposure is necessary, you should use a strong sunscreen (SPF 30 and UP) at all times throughout the course of your treatments.
-
Avoid picking or scratching the treated area. Do not use any other hair removal products or similar treatments (waxing, electrolysis or tweezing) after the laser treatment. Shaving may be done 1 -3 days after if there is no scabbing. DO NOT exfoliate the area!
-
Anywhere from 5-14 days after the treatment, shedding of the surface hair may occur and this might appear as new hair growth. This is NOT new hair growth. You can clean and remove the hair by washing or wiping the area with a wet cloth or loofa sponge.
-
There are no restrictions on bathing except that you must treat the skin gently, avoid steam/heat and pools as the chlorine may irritate the area even more causing redness, swelling and discomfort.
-
Depending on the area being treated laser treatments should be done based on the recommendations of the Medical Technician doing your treatments. Based on the thickness of the hair treatments can be spread anywhere from 4-8 weeks apart in order to allow the proper amount of time for the hair growth cycle to occur in that particular area.
-
Post-treatment skin care instructions must be followed to prevent any complications. Please contact our team with any questions or concern regarding your laser treatments

Microdermabrasion / Chemical (Lactic, Salicylic, Glycolic) Peel /Oxygen Infusion Guidelines
The standard Microdermabrasion procedure uses the Parisian Peel® which is the most trusted, gentle, non-invasive skin rejuvenation therapy available today. Parisian Peel Medical Microdermabrasion uses a directed stream of micro-crystals, combined with a vacuum to rejuvenate the skin.
Superficial chemical peels are topical exfoliants that are applied to the skin to soften the dead skin layer and exfoliate the skin, stimulating cell turnover to help restore to a more youthful appearance.
Many skin conditions can be improved when receiving a series of peels; Fine lines will be softened, dull skin will appear more radiant, rough or even skin will become smoother. Sun-damaged skin or blotchy skin will even out. Acne scarring may be softened. Because these peels are superficial, there is absolutely no downtime.
During the time of pre-conditioning and procedure, the skin may look red, shiny or can become flaky. One to two minutes of stinging or a burning sensation immediately after a Chemical Peel may be expected, but any discomfort will subside within a reasonable amount of time.
It is extremely important to follow all home care instructions exactly, and that notification to Wayyoung is mandatory if the following complications occur; Skin infections, cold sores, or any other allergic reactions that may occur to the treated area.
Oxygen Infusion Facial employs an airbrush-like wand that emits 90-95% of Oxygen under pressure to deliver a special serum to the skin. The infusion of oxygen and nutrients allows the skin to heal itself more quickly by encouraging the growth of new cells. The serums and masks utilized may cause redness, itchiness, a burning sensation and increased sensitivity of the skin.
TriPollar Radio Frequency Treatment Guidelines
The possible side effects of the treatment including local pain, excessive skin redness (erythema), excessive swelling (edema), damage to the natural skin texture (crust, blister, and burn), excessive tingling sensation, fragile skin and bruising. Although these effects
are rare and expected to be temporary, any adverse reaction should be reported immediately.
OxyGeneo Treatment Guidelines
You are being treated with the Geneo+ platform for anti-ageing and/or skin lightening treatments.
The platform works with OxyGeneo Technology.
A special gel will be applied on your face and the treatment will be performed using an applicator with a special capsule attached to it.
During the treatment, the reaction between the capsule and the gel will cause the infusion of the active ingredients.
The treatment is non-invasive, pleasant and does not require downtime.
The possible side effects of the treatment including excessive redness or swelling, itching, irritated skin, scratches, visible capillaries, sensitivity to touch, change of pigmentation, the chance of transient skin break out such as pimples, allergic reaction. Although these effects are rare and expected to be temporary, any adverse reaction should be reported immediately.
Microneedling Guidelines (eDermaStamp® CIT Treatment)
A thick layer of topical anesthesia (5% Lidocaine) will be applied to the skin to numb the skin. The treatment is tolerable because the skin is numbed. However, some discomfort, especially when treating delicate areas. are expected.
High-quality equipment and products significantly reduce downtime. However, the skin is expected to be red and sensitive for about 2 days after the treatment.
